YEAR 6

Well we did it Year 6! We made it to the end of the year and we are all still smiling!

What a final week you had!

Concert:

I would like to thank Ibrahim, Sibel, Avba and Mahnoor who worked hard throughout the term with other cast members to present a great show.

Ibrahim you have certainly shared with all of us a very well hidden talent, use it well.

Sibel, by the end of our rehearsal you were coming out of your shell and displaying a hidden talent.

Ava, I know this is definitely not your ‘cup of tea’ but to get up on stage at the concert and overcome your fear, you did a great job.

Mahnoor, keep up the work. Your auditions were great! Just don’t let the larger audience scare you because you could do well in this area.

Graduation & Awards Night

Yeah you have now all Graduated! What a feeling!

I was very proud of every one of you at Graduation. You all presented yourselves very well. Your speeches were fantastic and to get up in front of your families and speak in a formal setting is not easy. Well done!

For everyone I would like to share my speech with you here.

I want to take some time to reflect about the six students who are graduating tonight.

In 2012, I opened my classroom to a group of 21 bright eyed and timid babies, of whom 3 are now our 7 graduating Year 6 students. I have watched these 3 students, Sibel, Hassan and Mohamed, grow into strong, sensitive and independent individuals. As their journey has unfolded, they’ve built firm friendships with each other. They’ve had to say goodbye to many over this time, but have also met and welcomed new friends in their lives. In Year 2, Mahnoor joined them to add a new perspective on life. Then in Year 4, two hard working and quiet students in the form of Ava and Ibrahim, came along. Year 5 saw the arrival of the curiously random student, Reda. Each individual has added their own personality and talents to this small dynamic group that we have here.

Ava, you’re a kind, caring and helpful child who has willingly assisted in the canteen this year. You are a very talented individual. When it comes to your school work, you are diligent and hardworking. Your competitive streak is evident when completing tasks. You’re always striving to get the best mark. You’ve had tough competition this year. Keep up the hard work! All the best for your future, don’t drop the ball as you can be anything you put your mind to.

Hassan, I have had the pleasure of teaching you for three years in your time at this school. From the shy and timid student in Prep in 2012, to the confident student in Year 6 this year. It hasn’t always been an easy ride but you have always come out at the other end smiling. This year we found a hidden talent of acting in you which you were welcome to share with the school community, and this would have been fabulous. I would like to call you Mr. Last Minute because when asked about assessments/projects you would say, “I haven’t started yet,” then throw something together at last minute or after the due date. All the best for next year, Hassan!

Ibrahim, this year we have managed to uncover a hidden talent, I would like to take this chance to congratulate you on the amazing job you did on concert night playing Shere Khann. Well done! You are a diligent student who always strives to do his best work, always completing homework and set tasks. In taking on a number of roles, around the school this year, you have displayed excellent leadership skills whether it be representing Sirius College as the School Captain or running soccer training during lunch time for the junior students.

Manhoor is an avid reader and enjoys drawing and will do these two activities to distraction at times. She is hardworking and always like to present her work in new and interesting ways with a dramatic flair when in the classroom. She is a kind, caring and sensitive student. She relishes the chance to lead and help. She has also been a great assistance in the canteen this year. She is a diligent student who always tries her best.

We all wish you well and want you to be successful in whatever you take on in your secondary education. You are curious about the world around you and this will lead to many new discoveries. Mohamed, you have the intelligence to be very successful with you studies. You have shown that you are respectful of others. This year you have demonstrated that when you put your mind on something, you can be successful in what you do, as we witnessed when you were a member of our debating team earlier this term.

Reda would rather be at home which he makes no secret of. When he is at school, our quiet working time is interrupted by him asking, “Miss Height did you know ….? Miss Height what is …?” Which were not always work related questions and they had just popped into this head. This earned him the nickname of Random Reda. With his improved attendance, he has been achieving better marks this year. Keep working at it, Reda!

Sibel is a compassionate and well-mannered child who looks out for everyone around her. As the school captain and canteen assistant this year, she has displayed great leadership skills. She has also developed her drama skills through participation in the concert. She is a hardworking and diligent student who achieves excellent results. She displays much patience when dealing with others as well. It has been a pleasure to be with you over the last 7 years, either as your class teacher or as a specialist teacher. Never give up, Sibel you have so much to give the world.

To all our students particularly those graduating, it is your path to tread, so every choice whether it be at school, with your family or with your friends, it will make you who become. So always make the best decisions and learn from your mistakes.

On a last note, I would hope that the Graduation and Awards Night becomes an annual event to celebrate the 7 years, this year’s and future Year 6s have spent/ will spend on their primary school journey.

Last Day Ever of Primary School.

On the last day of school, Year 6’s went bowling which all of them enjoyed. We then shared a delicious meal at Gozleme Palace. Then we joined the rest of the school at Village Cinema’s to watch “Secret Life of Pets 2”.
